The Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection was first introduced in 1996, inspired by the brand’s iconic 222 model. Combining elegance with sporty character, it quickly became a hallmark of modern luxury sports watches. In 2004, the Overseas underwent a complete upgrade, with a more contemporary design and, most notably, the introduction of its now-iconic Maltese cross–inspired bracelet—an irresistible detail that has captivated collectors ever since.
This particular Overseas 47040 (2nd generation) features a robust 42mm case, offering a bolder presence compared to the earlier 37mm design. The black dial is understated yet refined, with Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12, and raised hour markers at the remaining positions for excellent legibility. What truly sets it apart, however, is the sculptural Maltese cross–style bracelet, whose striking geometry exudes presence on the wrist.
Powered by the automatic Caliber 1226, this watch has been recently serviced by our workshop and runs with precision. In recent years, stainless steel sports watches have continued to rise in demand, yet the 2nd generation Overseas still offers exceptional value. The black dial variant is particularly rare on the market, making this well-preserved, watch-only piece a highly attractive opportunity.
