The oxidation on the dial of antique watches is like a work of art, highly sought after by collectors. The pumpkin patina, tropical dials, and other unique patinas are considered precious treasures. Surprisingly, this 6694 has developed a fascinating patina through the passage of time. At first glance, it reminds one of the works of the German contemporary art master, Richter: the uneven splashes of color create a harmonious beauty. The patina of verdigris on the silver dial presents a vintage and sedimentary visual sensation, which is a unique creation of nature and truly rare.
The 6694 is hailed as the king of hand-wound watches in the 1960s and remains the thinnest Oyster model ever produced by Rolex. With a diameter of 34.5mm, it is powered by the early 17-jewel caliber 1225 manual winding movement. The 6694 represents the pinnacle and the end of the entire Oysterdate series. Production spanned a remarkable 30 years from 1958 to 1989. Since then, Rolex Oyster watches no longer feature manual winding movements, and the Oysterdate series ceased to exist. As a result, it has become a coveted item among many Rolex enthusiasts.
This 6694 is a watch only, well-preserved with its original bracelet and plexiglass crystal showing traces of aging. It has been serviced by our workshop and comes with a one-year warranty for timekeeping from the date of purchase.
