In a serene workshop bathed in sunlight during the 1980s, Breguet's artisans devoted themselves to a craft that had captivated emperors, nobility, writers, and thinkers for centuries—traditional watchmaking. The Classique 3130, designed personally by the brand’s operations director Francois Bodet and master watchmaker Daniel Roth, faithfully recreates Breguet’s No. 5 pocket watch. It established key design elements such as straight lugs, coin-edge case, and Breguet hands, which became the foundation of modern Breguet timepieces.
The Ref. 3130 originally featured a sapphire-set crown, which was later replaced with a precious metal crown. In the 1990s, a transparent case-back version, the Ref. 3137, was introduced. Both models, with their classic 36mm size, showcase the exquisite craftsmanship of early Breguet wristwatches. The gold dial, adorned with three distinct guilloché patterns, is meticulously crafted, with each pattern harmonizing without interference. Compared to the modern Ref. 7137, the Ref. 3130 appears more compact and elegant, making it particularly well-suited for Asian wrists.
At its heart, the Ref. 3130 houses Breguet’s iconic Cal. 502 automatic movement with an off-center rotor, offering a 50-hour power reserve. The timepiece featured today is a single-watch offering, preserved in its original, unpolished condition, with excellent overall quality. The movement functions normally, though servicing is recommended. To enhance its appeal, we have paired it with a Camille Fournet avocado-colored alligator leather strap, introducing a bold contrast that brings joy every time you check the time. With the passage of time and depth of history enriching this piece, this is the true joy of collecting watches.
