When you flip through Breguet's latest product catalog, you'll notice that it's becoming increasingly rare to find models under 36mm in the current Classique collection. In the 2010s, most Classique watches smaller than 36mm have been replaced and resized. However, one classic model that has been in production for many years is still making its "last stand," and that is our focal point today: the Breguet Classique ref.5907. The design of the small three-hand dial is a true test of the proportions of the movement and the dial; the distance between the center pin axis and the small dial directly influences the watch's aesthetic. Thus, 34mm is nearly a perfect size, while its successor's larger dial loses the watch's delicacy.
Introduced in 2010, the Ref.5907 retains almost all of Breguet's classic elements: coin-edge, Breguet hands, and Guilloché dial. The dial craftsmanship is very intricate, with the outer dial, hour markers, scale ring, and nameplate made using circular brushing techniques, while the middle section features Guilloché. The patterns on the large and small dials differ, creating a layered effect that enhances the dial's three-dimensionality. The twelve small gold markers are the finishing touch of the entire dial. Crafting so many details is no easy task for a watchmaker, which justifies the inscription "SWISS GUILLOCHE MAIN" beneath the 6 o'clock position. At 12 o'clock, there is the master Breguet's signature, which is said to have been implemented for anti-counterfeiting, a tradition that the brand has preserved and is still discussed today.
The exquisitely polished Breguet cal.511DR manual movement is a modified version of the Frederic Piguet cal.1150, featuring dual barrels and a power reserve of 95 hours. The power reserve indicator uses a blue steel hand, and the remaining energy can be assessed through the display on the transparent case back.
This Ref.5907, purchased in 2015, in the rare rose gold version. Its appearance is as pristine as new, with the original buckle. We have paired it with elephant gray TOGO leather, which complements the rose gold casing beautifully. The movement has been serviced by Nicky Sir, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and it comes with a one-year warranty from our workshop.
