Cartier has always amazed the world with its innovative reinterpretations of classic designs, and the Vendôme Bi-Plan is a perfect example. The Vendôme line originated in the 1970s as a tribute to the Cartier flagship store located at Place Vendôme in Paris. The signature design of three concentric rings seen in Cartier's jewelry line is also echoed in this watch. Viewed from the side, the case resembles three stacked coins, giving it a distinct and refined look.
While the Vendôme Bi-Plan features a classic round case, it adds a unique twist with two horizontal bars on either side connecting the case to the strap. This design resembles a biplane from the early 20th century, which is where the name "Bi-Plan" comes from. These horizontal lugs grip the round case and give the watch a unique Art Deco aesthetic, perfectly in line with Cartier's "Roaring Twenties" design language.
But these lugs aren’t just decorative — they are part of an ingenious mechanism integrating a deployant clasp into the case itself. When opened, the entire watch head lifts up, revealing the strap fully and creating a visually seamless and elegant appearance.
The case is crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, measuring 32mm in diameter. The dial showcases Cartier's timeless style: ivory guilloché pattern, black Roman numerals, and a pair of blue sword-shaped hands. Inside beats the Piaget 9P2 manual-winding movement, which has just been serviced by our workshop and is running in excellent condition. The timepiece comes with a one-year service warranty from our workshop.
The watch is in like-new condition, paired with a custom brown Buttero leather strap for a more vintage and elegant appearance. Available in-store now — feel free to come in and try it on.
