Open Breguet’s latest catalog and you’ll notice that in the current Classique collection, models under 36mm are almost non-existent. During the 2010s, when most Classique models below 36mm were discontinued or upsized, one long-produced classic reference continued its “last stand”—the watch we feature today: the Breguet Classique ref. 5907.
The small seconds dial design is a true test of proportion between movement and dial. The distance between the central axis and the subdial directly determines the elegance of the watch. At 34mm, this reference hits a nearly perfect balance. Its successors, with enlarged dials, lost much of that refined delicacy.
Launched in 2010, the ref. 5907 retained almost every signature Breguet hallmark: the coin-edge caseband, Breguet hands, and a richly detailed guilloché dial. The dial is a masterpiece of craftsmanship: the outer ring, hour markers, chapter ring, and nameplate are finished with circular brushing, while the central areas feature different guilloché patterns for the main and subdials. This interplay of textures creates remarkable depth and dimensionality. Twelve petite gold markers serve as the finishing touches. Producing so many fine details is no easy feat, and fully justifies the “SWISS GUILLOCHE MAIN” inscription at 6 o’clock. At 12 o’clock, Breguet’s signature is present—a tradition originally introduced by the master himself as an anti-counterfeiting measure, now a celebrated brand hallmark.
Inside is the finely finished Breguet cal. 511DR manual movement, based on the Frederic Piguet cal. 1150, modified by Breguet. It features twin barrels, a 95-hour power reserve, a blued steel power-reserve hand, and a movement-side indicator visible through the display back.
The ref. 5907 we are presenting today was purchased in 2005. It comes in rose gold, with an exterior as clean and fresh as new, and fitted with its original buckle. The movement has been fully serviced by Nicky Sir, running with excellent accuracy, and is covered by our workshop’s one-year warranty.
