Arashiyama is a mountain located in the western part of Kyoto, Japan. The scenery of Arashiyama is incredibly beautiful, with a serene and poetic atmosphere throughout. The sky in Arashiyama is known for its vibrant blue color, reminiscent of the "青天釉" (sky blue glaze) dial of the Kintoshiyoto watch. Inspired by the ancient Kyoto Kiyomizu-yaki pottery, the watch dial presents a unique gradient of blue, paying homage to the clear blue sky over Kyoto.
Arashiyama is the first collection of Kintoshiyoto watches, and for watchmakers, this timepiece is more like a refuge for artists seeking to escape the realities of the modern world. After years of experimentation and craftsmanship, Kyoto ceramic artist Genki Manabe has created his vision of a sky blue color, which he named "青天釉" (sky blue glaze). He pays homage to time through the traditional Japanese craft, and each firing process results in a different depth and pattern, giving each watch a unique soul.
The Arashiyama collection is limited to 100 pieces and includes a watch, a sky blue glazed teacup, a Kyoto handkerchief, two bookmarks, a Kyoto cord, and an exquisite set box. The pre-sale of the watches started in September and sold out instantly on the night of the release. In them, I see the rising popularity of Kurono Tokyo.
The Arashiyama watch set that I am sharing today is brand new, with the watch and all accessories in unused condition, and the protective film still intact.
