The chronograph has long been one of Patek Philippe's most popular watch types. From 2005 to 2012, there were as many as eight chronograph movements developed and mass-produced independently. To celebrate the brand's 175th anniversary, Patek Philippe introduced the 5975 (men's) and 4975 (women's) series, two "multi-scale" limited edition commemorative watches. These two models offer a wealth of measuring functions, surpassing other similar timepieces. As the name suggests, the wristwatch features three scales: logarithmic scales used for calculating speed, distance, and heart rate. In the mid-1960s, watches with built-in tachymeters, pulsometers, and rangefinders began to gain popularity and were widely used in related professional fields. With the release of the limited edition "multi-scale" chronograph, Patek Philippe pays a magnificent tribute to the history of these timing functions.

The "multi-scale" chronograph not only features a distinctive dial but also houses the specially designed CH 28-520 automatic winding movement. It adopts the classic column wheel structure and a disc clutch with almost zero frictional loss. The daily accuracy ranges from -3 to +2 seconds. In addition, the watch case is elegantly simple, with uniquely designed layered lugs, enhancing its visual appeal. The dial of the "multi-scale" chronograph bears three concentric scales. For the men's version, from outer to inner, they are the rangefinder, pulsometer, and tachymeter. The 5975 series for men is limited to 1,300 pieces, with 400 pieces each of the white gold 5975G, rose gold 5975R, and yellow gold 5975J, while the platinum 5975P has the fewest pieces, only 100.

Based on the outstanding performance of the 150th-anniversary limited edition watches, the investment value of the 5975 is beyond doubt. The 5975 being shared today is a single watch without a certificate. This watch has been appraised by a senior watchmaker at our studio. It has not been polished and is in excellent condition with a highly accurate movement. It is a rare find and available at a good price.
