Gondolo is a special series of Patek Philippe. In the early 20th century, a Brazilian watch dealer named Gondolo & Labouriau sold nearly 22,000 watches for Patek Philippe in a unique way. In order to sell the watches, Gondolo came up with a brilliant marketing scheme: they established a club named "Patek Philippe" where each member had to pay 10 Swiss francs per week for 79 weeks. In return, Gondolo would draw one lucky winner each week from the 180 members to receive a Patek Philippe pocket watch. The final member who paid for 79 weeks, totaling 790 Swiss francs, would definitely get the pocket watch. This marketing tactic was somewhat of a mix between installment payments and gambling, and it was very popular at the time.
The partnership was eventually terminated for various reasons, but Patek Philippe retained Gondolo and classified all their unusual-shaped watches under the Gondolo series. Today, the distinctive features of Gondolo are strong linear design and non-circular geometric shapes.
The watch we are sharing today, the 5024J, embodies strong Gondolo elements. At first glance, it appears to have a square case with an added rectangle, curved sides when viewed from the side, and a unique design that is unforgettable and comfortable to wear. The white granular dial features Art Deco hour markers and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The watch is equipped with the classic 215 manual winding movement. This watch comes with its original box, has just been serviced by our workshop, runs accurately, and is in excellent condition! It's priced very competitively, so don't miss out!
