The Jaeger-LeCoultre Triple Calendar holds an important position in the hearts of many antique watch enthusiasts. Its design and movement can be found in early Cartier and Vacheron Constantin watches, but in reality, the movements all originate from Jaeger-LeCoultre.
The reason this watch has become a classic is due to its visual balance, the three-dimensional feel of the dial design, the layered case, and the charming teardrop-shaped lugs. The Triple Calendar was first introduced by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the mid-1940s. At that time, three movements were released: the Cal.451/A from 1943-1944, producing 400 pieces; the 464/A from 1944-1945, making 1800 pieces; and the 4848 from 1945-1949, which was used for the triple date/triple date moonphase models and had a production of 1500 pieces.
However, due to the lack of waterproof features in the design at that time, very few watches with well-preserved dials have survived to this day. Once they appear, they are quickly snapped up. In 1984, during Jaeger-LeCoultre's 150th anniversary, a limited edition of 400 replicas was released. On the back of these watches, one can see engravings for the 150th anniversary and the limited edition number.
The watch being shared today is a single piece, with a later replacement strap and buckle. The overall condition of the watch is very good, and the movement is in good working order. This watch has been inspected and authenticated by our workshop, guaranteeing its authenticity. A rare piece for enthusiasts of fine timepieces and antiques that should not be missed!
